I have extensive experience in clinical trials, having been the prinicipal investigator or a sub investigator in nearly 100 studies over the years. Most of these studies have been vital in bringing much needed treatments to the general public. I was the first physician in the area to offer Procrit for anemia and Doxil for Kaposi's Sarcoma. Both of these therapies continue to be gold standard treatments. I have also participated in many trials introducing new HIV anti-viral drugs, as well as treatments for wasting syndrome, low testosterone, and vaccines just to name a few. Our office is actively involved in many HIV clinical trials through CARE-ID, which is a group of local HIV specialists, including myself. We usually have 6-8 ongoing studies targeted at both new and experienced patients with HIV. We conduct Phase I, II, and III studies. Patients usually get free medication, labs, and doctor's visits. Some studies include a stipend for the patients.
